This artwork focuses on the Creator, embodying the sacred connection that ties all living beings. Cree teachings reveal the interconnected nature of all things, where everything moves together in a dance of reciprocity. The illustration shows this interconnectedness that holds us all.

Caleb Dysart (Nisichiwayasihk Cree Nation) is a nîhithaw artist living on unceded Coast Salish territories, specializing in 3D animation, murals, photography, design & illustration. His family comes from Treaty 5 in northern Manitoba, from O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation (South Indian Lake) and Nisichiwayasihk Cree Nation (Nelson House), as well as Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Caleb holds a Bachelor of Media Arts from Emily Carr University of Art & Design, majoring in 3D animation. Caleb currently lives in K’emk’emeláy̓ (“the place of many maple trees”; Vancouver) with his partner and dog, working as a freelance illustrator and muralist. His process-driven work is finely crafted to celebrate Cree culture, incorporate stories that centre around physical and spiritual connections to land, and depict the interconnected relationships between all living things.
The Lantern City is grateful to be held on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish Nation), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation). We acknowledge our privilege to be gathered on this land, and commit to work with and be respectful to the Indigenous peoples whose arts and stories inspire us to bring communities together.
