Pierre Luigi Vassura

Pierre Vassura was born in Romagna, Italy in 1935. At the age of twenty, he moved to France in search of artistic experiences where he secured work as a ceramics designer.  He later became a technical and production expert in several ceramic factories throughout Switzerland, France, Italy and Israel. He exhibited his works in Israel from 1963 to 1965. Eventually, he moved back to Italy where he continued to pursue a career in ceramics while raising a family.  In the early 1980’s he and his family moved to Richmond, BC.  In the late 80’s, with the support of his family he retired early to pursue his creative journey and inner passion. He has been silently creating in his home studio ever since.

Vassura considers his visual art to be analogies for the fables, characters and subject matter his works refer to.  He describes his style as “analogical formalism.” His works  have been exhibited at the Italian Cultural Center, the Richmond Art Gallery, the Duplex Gallery and the Queen Elizabeth Theater.

Family is at the centre of life: past, present and future. The support and care of his family is what has assisted him in the evolution of his creative journey.
